Purcell sisters combine for 58 points in a win over Pine Manor

(Nashua, NH) Using a 26-5 run to begin the game, the Rivier College Raiders topped the century mark in a 100-76 win over visiting Pine Manor College in GNAC action tonight inside the Muldoon Gymnasium.

Senior Amandra Purcell (Hudson, NH) was lights out from beyond the arc as she hit seven trifectas on her way to a game high 33 points. Younger sister, freshman Deanna Purcell (Hudson, NH) recorded 25 points, including a perfect 10-for-10 from the line, as the Raiders improved to 10-6 on the season and more importantly a 4-1 mark in conference play. Sophomore Ryan Baker (Whitinsville, MA) returned from a ankle injury and chipped in 18 points while fellow classmate Jaclyn Penniman (Dudley, MA) pulled down 13 rebounds.

For the Gators, they had four starters record double-digit games. Senior Therline Dumeran (Cambridge, MA) was the team leader with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Natasha Franklin (Windsor, CT), senior Phibe Pham (Boston, MA) and senior Paulette Wright (Baltimore, MD) each had 14, 12 and 10 respectively as Pine Manor fell to 5-8 overall and 0-5 in conference play. Wright also collected 10 rebounds.

Rivier shot 47.9% from the floor in the game with Pine Manor checking in a 41.2%. However, the game was won from outside as the Raiders went 11-for-27 (40.7%) compared to the Gators' 3-for-12 (25%).

Next up for the Raiders will be Mount Ida College. The Mustangs will visit the Muldoon Gymnasium on Saturday, January 21st for a 1pm tip off. Pine Manor will travel to West Hartford, CT for their next game which is on Saturday against Saint Joseph College (CT).
