Softball Falls to NEC, Bows Out of the GNAC Tournament
NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier softball team fell to New England Col. in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Play-In in a matchup between the respective fourth and fifth seeds in the GNAC's North Division by a final score of 3-1 on Tuesday night at Raider Diamond.
The Raiders conclude their season with a 15-17 overall record.
Riv got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning as Kayla Miles came home from third after a Kylee Caetano steal forced an errant throw into the outfield.
In the top of the third, NEC responded with three runs on two hits and two Raiders errors to take a lead which would last until the final out.
New England Col.'s right-handed pitcher, Olivia Olson, tossed a complete-game allowing just four hits and one run while striking out four in her fourth consecutive victory in the circle.
The Pilgrims advance to GNAC Pod Play this Thursday, May 2 hosted by the North Division's top seed, Saint Joseph's (Me.)
Rivier will look to return to the postseason for the fifth consecutive campaign in 2025.
