Softball Swept by Saint Joseph’s (Me.) on Senior Day

NASHUA, N.H. – The Raiders were swept in a Great Northeast Athletic Contest (GNAC) North doubleheader on the final day of the regular-season at Raider Diamond.  Prior to Saturday's contests, the Raiders held a Senior Day ceremony to celebrate its graduating student-athletes, Sydney Greeno, Ally Gerardi, Ally McKenna, Amanda Atkinson, and Kayla Miles.

With the pair of losses, Rivier finished its schedule with a 15-17 record, going 8-8 in conference games to nab the fourth seed in the North Division heading into the GNAC Tournament. The Monks jumped above .500 overall at 17-16 and will enter the postseason as the No. 1 seed in the North with a 12-4 conference record.

Rivier will host the North's Play-In Game against fifth-seeded New England Col. on Tuesday, April 30.

Saint Joseph's (Me.) 8, Rivier 4

The visitors took a 5-0 lead after the first inning with Chantelle Bouchard leading the scoring off with a two-run homer. SJC's Kryslin Stearns hit a solo homer in the top of the fifth to improve the Monks' lead to six runs.

In the bottom of the sixth, Riv broke the shutout as Kayla Miles roped a double to right center that scored Christina Panagiotopoulos.

After two Monks runs were scored in the top half, the Raiders responded with a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh but would ultimately fall short.

Panagiotopoulos and Kylee Caetano each went 2-for-4 in the contest with Panagiotopoulos recording an RBI.

Hailey Berube pitched the final 6.1 innings in a relief appearance, allowing just one earned run.

Saint Joseph's (Me.) 9, Rivier 1

After Olivia Couto broke the scoring drought wuth an RBI base hit in the top of the fifth, the Monks scored nine unanswered runs over the last two innings to earn a come-from-behind victory to cap off the regular-season in first place.

Kayla Miles went 3-for-3 at the plate.
