NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Rivier softball team dropped game one, 6-1, before coming away with a 3-1 triumph in game two to salvage a split with Mitchell in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders are now 15-15 (8-6 GNAC) while the Mariners sit at 15-17 (11-5 GNAC).

Rivier will honor its senior class on Sunday, April 28 prior to a GNAC North twin bill against Saint Joseph's (Me.) set to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Raider Diamond.

Rivier's lone run came in the seventh inning after trailing since the bottom of the first which would prove to be too little, too late. Both Olivia Couto and Kyleigh Burtsell recorded hits for the Raiders.

Christina Panagiotopoulos' two-RBI single in the top of the first proved to be enough as the Raiders allowed just one run over the contest to secure their eighth conference victory. Kylee Caetano added an insurance run in the top of the third.

Reigning GNAC Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, Hailey Berube, notched her 10th win of the season. The first-year right hander threw seven innings of one-run ball, striking out two Mariners batters.
