Peacock, Freitas named Player & Rookie of the Week by the GNAC

(Boston, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference has announced this afternoon that Rivier University's Nicole Peacock and Shaylyn Freitas have been selected as the GNAC Softball's Player and Rookie of the Week.

A senior from Warwick, Rhode Island, Peacock helped lead the Raiders to a 3-3 week. She hit .682 over the six games with five doubles, a triple and a home run. Peacock finished the week with eight RBI and eight stolen bases to go along with her .708 on base percentage.

Freitas was selected as the GNAC Rookie of the Week as she hit at a .476 clip. The freshman shortstop from Pelham, New Hampshire scored nine runs and knocked in ten RBI over the 3-3 week for Rivier. The Nashua South grad also made just one error in 16 chances at shortstop on the week.

This is the first time this season that either Peacock or Freitas have been honored by the GNAC. Freshman Nicole Scotti (Concord, NH) was tabbed GNAC Rookie of the Week back on March 24th.
