
Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Emerson
NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier men's volleyball team downed Emerson in straight sets in a Thursday night Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup at the Muldoon Center.
The Raiders were victorious by set scores of 25-19, 25-16, 25-16 to improve to 9-12 (4-5 GNAC). The Lions fell to 6-13 (2-6 GNAC) with the loss.
Rivier used three kills from sophomore Racine Camara and a pair each from junior Matthew McCloskey, first-year Cody Fitzpatrick, and senior Bassam Awde to record a .217 team hitting percentage to take the first set. First-year Cade Barron dished out nine assists in the opening frame.
The Raiders' lead was as many as 11 points in the second set as they cruised to a 2-0 match lead. Rivier produced four aces and four total blocks in the set as the Lions were kept to a -.097 hitting percentage.
Rivier hit .476 in the third set, fueled by Fitzpatrick's three kills at a .500 clip. McCloskey added four kills and an ace.
McCloskey led the team with 10 kills, six digs, two block assists, and an ace. Camara posted a team-leading eight digs with six kills to his credit as he hit at a .333 clip.
Rivier returns to action on Saturday, March 29 for a GNAC tri-match against No. 11 Wentworth and host Regis (Mass.). The Raiders will face the nationally ranked Leopards at 1:00 p.m. before taking on the Pride at 3:00 p.m. at Higgins Court.
