
Men’s Volleyball Downs Sage, 3-1
NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier men's volleyball team earned a four-set victory over Sage in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Muldoon Center, winning by scores of 25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17.
The Raiders improved to 6-7 while the Gators fell to 5-17.
Tied 7-7 in the first, Rivier posted a 7-3 run to force Sage into a timeout. The Gators cut the deficit to two at 17-15 on a Raiders error before Rivier recorded the next four points on three Sage errors and a kill by sophomore right side Racine Camara. A kill from junior outside Matthew McCloskey at set point gave Rivier a 1-0 lead. Camara posted three kills on four errorless attacks in the first set.
The second set saw 11 tie scores and four lead changes as the Raiders took a 2-0 advantage. Tied at 20-20, Rivier used kills from McCloskey and Camara along with two Sage errors to close out the set. Camara posted seven kills at a .667 clip in the frame.
The Gators limited the Raiders to a .065 hitting percentage in the third to take the set and cut away at their deficit. Evan Devine and Sean Pingelski each led the offense with three kills apiece in the third.
Sage hit negative in the fourth as the Raiders took an early lead and never looked back en route to their sixth win of the campaign. Sophomore setter Justin Barish had 10 assists in the fourth.
Dickinson hit .667 with nine kills while his fellow middle, Awde, notched six kills at a .417 clip. Camara finished with a team-high 14 kills at a .321 hitting percentage. Both Camara and Castillo notched eight digs. Barish finished with 39 assists.
Rivier heads into Spring Break and will return to action on Wednesday, March 12 for its second non-conference clash against Endicott of the season. First serve from the Muldoon Center is set for 6:00 p.m.
