Men’s Volleyball Blanked by No. 9 Wentworth

NASHUA, N.H. – In a rematch of the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) title match, the Rivier men's volleyball team was swept by No. 9 Wentworth at the Muldoon Center on Friday night.

The Raiders lost by set scores of 14-25, 21-25, 20-25 to fall to 4-4 (1-1 GNAC), while the nationally ranked Leopards improved to 9-1 (3-0 GNAC).

Rivier was unable to get in an offensive rhythm in the opening set as Wentworth hit .346 as a team to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

An early kill in the second set by Matthew McCloskey made it a 6-3 lead for the home team. After battling to take the lead, the Leopards burned a timeout after a kill by first-year Cade Barron tied things at 14-all. Wentworth got up to a four-point lead after the break to help them hold on to take a 2-0 lead. Sophomore outside Racine Camara notched three kills at a .429 clip to lead the offensive charge for the Raiders.

Jacob Waga dropped in an ace to give Wentworth an 11-6 advantage in the third before Rivier battled to take a 12-11 lead. Rivier got up to a 16-14 lead on a kill by sophomore outside Aidan Combs, but the Leopards would turn the tables with a five-point swing to take a 19-16 lead. Wentworth's offense was able to overpower the Raiders late as they notched six kills for their final six points to close out their third conference triumph.

Rivier returns to action at the Muldoon Center on Tuesday, Feb. 11 for a 7:00 p.m. GNAC showdown against Emmanuel (Mass.)
