Men’s Volleyball Drops ENC, 3-1

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier men's volleyball team took care of Eastern Nazarene in a four-set non-conference clash at the Muldoon Center on Tuesday night.

The Raiders improved to 10-10 while the Lions fell to 12-6.

In set one, Rivier took an early lead at 8-3 which forced Eastern Nazarene into a timeout. Rivier's lead grew to eight on a service ace by Isaac Borges ace. The Lions battled back to within four following two Alejandro Garcia Fernandez kills which made it 23-19. Rivier would take the set as the visitors committed a service error on set point. Borges led the way with five kills at a .571 clip along with two aces.

Trailing 12-11 in the second set, Eastern Nazarene went on a 9-5 run coming out of a timeout to take a 20-17 lead. The Lions were able to hang on for a 25-23 victory thanks to a nine-kill frame from Garcia Fernandez.

Rivier rallied to take a 13-8 lead in the third as Sokunbuth Ly finished a set from Neil Rea for his fourth and final kill of the set. Despite a Lions comeback bid, Rivier called off the set with a kill by Racine Camara to take a 2-1 match lead.

The Raiders jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the fourth. The hosts' lead would hold until the end for a 25-17 win to even the team out to a .500 record.

Rea led the offense with 40 assists over four sets as the team amassed a .266 hitting percentage. Both Ly and Borges finished with double-digit kill performances with 12 and 10, respectively. Ly finished with a double-double, posting 12 kills and 12 digs.

Rivier had 10.0 total blocks to ENC's 2.0.

The Raiders will host Regis (Mass.) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest on Thursday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the Muldoon Center.
