Postseason Preview: Men’s Lacrosse Hosts Dean in GNAC Semifinals on Wednesday

NASHUA, N.H. – After downing No. 4 South JWU-Providence in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Quarterfinals, the No. 1 North Rivier men's lacrosse team will host No. 2 South Dean in the semifinal round on Wednesday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Merrill Field.

The Raiders used a six-goal, one-assist performance from Chris Heitmiller in the first round to cruise past the Wildcats, 16-3. In his seventh victory in goal, Sawyer Gagnon made 14 saves on 17 shots to earn GNAC Goalie of the Week honors.

After falling behind 4-0 after the first quarter, Dean outscored No. 2 North Saint Joseph's (Me.) 14-8 over the final three periods to earn a spot in the semifinals. Alex Spiers and Manny Alvarez-Segee earned GNAC Rookie and Player of the Week honors thanks to their individual efforts in the win over the Monks, each posting nine points.

Rivier heads into tonight's contest on a five-game winning streak, with two of those victories coming on home turf.

In the all-time series between the Raiders and the Bulldogs dating back to the 2018 campaign, Riv holds a 4-1 edge, winning the last four contests. In games between both teams played at Merrill Field, Rivier is 3-0, including a win this season back on March 25.

The winner of Wednesday's contest advances to Saturday's GNAC Championship against the winner of No. 1 South Saint Joseph (Conn.) and No. 3 South Lasell.
