Men's Lacrosse: Raiders fall to Nichols in Season Opener

(Dudley, Mass.) The Rivier University Men's Lacrosse team opened up their 2018 schedule this afternoon with an 11-4 loss at Nichols College. The Bison improve to 2-0 on the year while the Raiders are now 0-1. It was a close game at half as the hosts held a 5-3 lead. However in the fourth quarter, Nichols exploded for five goals to pull away and seal the victory.

Junior Sean Brady (Tewksbury, Mass.) led the team with two goals and an assist while classmates Colby Larsen (Windham, N.H.) and Liam Ryan (Dorchester, Mass.) were the other goal scorers. Junior Matt Cloutman (Peabody, Mass.) made ten saves on 21 shots faced in his first start between the pipes this year.

The Bison were paced offensively by Brendan Coates who had three goals and Mackenzie Martin added a pair in the win. Brian McKinley stopped 11 of 15 shots for his second win of 2018.

Next up for Rivier will be another non-conference road contest on Saturday afternoon at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. Game time is scheduled for 12pm.
