
Bosse Leads Men’s Basketball Past Colby-Sawyer, 74-66
NASHUA, N.H. — Graduate student Kyler Bosse's 32-point performance led the Rivier men's basketball team to a 74-66 victory over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) intrastate rival Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday night at the Muldoon Center.
With the win the Raiders improved to 12-11 (5-6 GNAC) while the Chargers dropped to 3-18 (1-9 GNAC).
The Raiders opened the game with a three-point barrage, using shots from Bosse and senior Odarius Cade to take an early 11-4 lead at the 16:51 mark of the first half. Graduate student Joey Merrill kept the three-point streak alive, and first-year Matt Youngquist added a pair of free throws, extending the lead to 15-7. Bosse then scored seven straight points, and junior Robenson Baguidy hit another three to push the advantage to 25-12 with 13:20 remaining in the half. The Chargers trimmed the deficit to 10, but the Raiders answered with a 13-6 run, capped by back-to-back threes from first-year Steph Barnes to extend the lead to 41-24. The teams traded baskets to close out the frame, with the Raiders leading 48-34 heading into halftime.
Colby-Sawyer opened the half with a strong 15-8 run over nine minutes, cutting the lead to 56-49. Bosse halted the momentum, knocking down a mid-range jumper and hitting a three-pointer from the corner to restore the double-digit advantage. The Chargers continued to battle, closing the gap to five points at 66-61 with 3:53 remaining. However, the Raiders sealed the victory with clutch free throw shooting and finished the game with a 74-66 win.
Bosse contributed nine rebounds and five assists to go with his 32 points on 13-of-24 (54.1%) shooting. Barnes contributed 11 points, knocking down three three-pointers and grabbing six rebounds. Baguidy recorded a team-high 10 rebounds, while Merrill dished out a team-high nine assists.
The Raiders outrebounded the Chargers 45-39 and held an advantage in assists, 23-7. Rivier also led in points off turnovers (14-6), second-chance points (11-6), and fast-break points (13-9).
The Raiders return to GNAC action on Saturday, Feb. 15 against Dean for Senior Day at the Muldoon Center. Tip-off is scheduled for noon.
