Men's Basketball Travels to UMass Lowell for Monday Exhibition

LOWELL, Mass. – The Rivier men's basketball team is set to take on UMass Lowell in an exhibition on Monday, Nov. 4. Tip-off from the Costello Athletic Center is set for 6:00 p.m.

This marks the second consecutive season that the Division I River Hawks will host the Raiders in their season-opener, which is not countable towards Rivier's 2024-25 record. UMass Lowell is 2-0 in the series which dates back to Nov. 9, 2021.

Rivier senior guard Odarius Cade led the Raiders with 17 points in 35 minutes of action in last season's clash between the two programs in front of a crowd of 719.

Cade, along with five other returners and 10 newcomers, looks to help guide his squad back to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament for the second straight year after the team earned the fifth spot in the GNAC Preseason Poll.

UMass Lowell came up just shy of a March Madness appearance, falling 66-61 to Vermont in last year's America East Championship game.

The Rivier Hawks, who are slated second in the America East Preseason Poll, bring back eight returners from last season's squad along with seven newcomers. Fifth-year Max Brooks was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team after leading the River Hawks' rebounding efforts with 7.3 boards per game in 2023-24.

Following Monday night's tune-up, Rivier will host Mass. Liberal Arts in its season-opener on Saturday, Nov. 9 at noon at the Muldoon Center.
