Cade Records Season High, Men’s Basketball Downs Regis (Mass.), 88-71

NASHUA, N.H. — Senior Odarius Cade recorded a season-high 32 points as the Raiders secured an 88-71 victory over Regis (Mass.) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday afternoon at the Muldoon Center.

The Raiders trailed 16-7 at the 11:56 mark of the first half before Cade erupted for nine straight points, cutting the deficit to 20-16 with just over eight minutes to play. Junior Robenson Baguidy trimmed the margin to two with a layup, and graduate student Kyler Bosse scored on back-to-back possessions to tie the game at 22-22. Cade added five more points, but Regis responded with an 11-5 run, forcing Rivier into a timeout down 33-27 with 2:57 left in the half. Coming out of the timeout, the Raiders erupted on a three-point shooting spree that was capped with a shot from graduate student Joey Merrill, giving Rivier a 38-35 lead at the half.

Bosse opened the second half with back-to-back three-pointers, giving the Raiders a 44-37 lead with 18:48 remaining. The teams traded baskets, with Rivier holding a 54-47 advantage at the 13:14 mark. The Raiders then embarked on a 10-1 run, capped by a putback from first-year Matt Youngquist, extending their lead to 64-48 halfway through the frame. Rivier maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way, cruising to an 88-71 victory.

Cade led the Raiders with 32 points on 13-of-19 shooting (68.4%), including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc (57.1%). Baguidy followed with 17 points on 4-of-6 shooting (66.7%), to go along with six rebounds and a steal. Bosse chipped in 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting (50%) and grabbed six rebounds. Merrill recorded his sixth double-double of the season, posting 11 points, 12 rebounds, and a team-high four assists. Youngquist added six points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

The Raiders capitalized on fastbreak opportunities and second-chance points, outscoring the Pride 25-7 and 12-10, respectively. Additionally, the Raiders edged Regis in rebounds, 49-36, and assists, 12-10.

The Raiders return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in GNAC play against Colby-Sawyer at the Muldoon Center. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
