Men's Basketball falls to Albertus Magnus, 92-82

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team returned to action this evening with a hard fought 92-82 loss to visiting Albertus Magnus College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The Raiders stumble to 3-17 overall with a 3-10 GNAC mark with the loss. The win helps strengthen Albertus Magnus' position near the top of the conference standings as they are now 10-2 GNAC and 14-3 overall on the season.

Five different Raiders reached the double-digit plateau as sophomore Victor Davila (Guaynabo, P.R.) registered the team high of 18 points. Senior Anthony Simmons (Stamford, Conn.) chipped in with 14 points and freshman Isaiah Ruffen (Haverhill, Mass.) had 12 points. Both junior Kevin Francis (Cromwell, Conn.) and senior Cullen Donovan (Wethersfield, Conn.) contributed with 11 point each.

For the Falcons, they were paced by freshman Shontaey Lovell (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who had 26 points and sophomore Jaqhawn Walters (Hartford, Conn.) who had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Marc Wilson (Jersey City, N.J.) added 18 points for Albertus Magnus with sophomore Chaunce Dunbar (Windsor, Conn.) providing 15 points in his 20 minutes of action.

Rivier held a 43-39 lead at halftime but the Falcons were able to storm back with 59 second half points to earn the conference win.

Next up for the Raiders will be on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Emmanuel College for a 1pm GNAC match-up. Albertus Magnus will also be on the road in GNAC action as they are in Newton, Mass. for a 4pm tip-off against Lasell College.
