Men's Basketball downed in first half finale by JWU

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team closed out the first half of their regular season schedule this evening with a 103-62 loss to the visiting Wildcats of Johnson and Wales University in a Great Northeast Athletic Contest played inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The loss sends the Raiders to 1-9 overall with a 1-3 mark in league play while JWU ups their overall record to 7-1, 3-0 GNAC.

Sophomore Andre Ruff (Chicago, Ill.) led the Raiders with 17 points and senior Anthony Simmons (Stamford, Conn.) added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Junior Kevin Francis (Cromwell, Conn.) was the other Raider to reach double figures with 10 points in the loss.

The Wildcats offensive attack was paced by senior Tom Garrick (Seekonk, Mass.) who totaled 26 points and classmate Quarry Greenway (Westchester, N.Y.) who added 20 points of his own. Junior Anthony Jernigan (East Hartford, Conn.) and sophomore Jarell Lawson (Providence, R.I.) provided help with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Rivier will return to the court following the extended Holiday Break with another GNAC contest. They will host Mount Ida College on Tuesday, January 5 for a 5pm tip-off. Johnson and Wales will close out their 2015 portion of the schedule with a pair of home contests against Elms College (12/12) and Fisher College (12/14).
