Men's Basketball tripped up in Boys & Girls Club Classic

(Concord, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team suffered their second loss of the season this evening as Plymouth State University took home the 79-55 win in the nightcap of the fourth annual Boys and Girls Club Classic, hosted by New Hampshire Technical Institute.

Sophomore Andre Ruff (Chicago, Ill.) led the offensive effort for the Raiders as he went 5-for-14 from the floor and totaled 14 points. Junior Victor Davila (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) added nine points and senior Anthony Simmons (Stamford, Conn.) provided an additional seven in the loss. Freshman Isaiah Ruffen (Haverhill, Mass.) had a solid night off the bench as he provided nine points in his 18 minutes of work.

Plymouth State saw Jack Preston net 15 points and Ernie Johnson chipped in with 14 points off the bench as the Panthers earned their third straight win over the Raiders. Mike Osgood collected six rebounds and added seven points for Plymouth State in the contest.

The Raiders will now prepare for their annual Tip-Off Tournament, which begins play on Friday night. Rivier squares off against Pine Manor in the opening 6pm game before the University of Southern Maine and Colby-Sawyer College take the floor in the nightcap. Championship game is slated for 2pm on Saturday afternoon.
