Raiders top Wildcats on Senior day

(Nashua, NH)Rivier College defeated Johnson & Whales University on Saturday afternoon in an upset victory to finish off their season with a victory and snapping their 10 game losing streak on senior day.
The Raiders (5-20 Overall, 3-15 GNAC) were led by their big man down low sophomore Tom Poitras (Bow, NH) who had a season high 36 points and made 14 of 19 field goals. They were also led in the paint by junior Mike Polley(Nashua, NH)who also had a season high with 14 rebounds. Senior Will Snider(Brooklyn, NY) who was honored before the game, also turned out a strong performance with 10 points and was 6 for 6 at the line.
The Wildcats(12-13 Overall, 11-7 GNAC) had two player tie for the team lead with 22 points with junior Matt Williams (Mt. Kisco, NY) and senior James Folk (Lawrence, MA). Williams also led the team with 6 assists and 5 rebounds and played a full 40 minutes.
Finishing off the season with a strong win the young Raiders will look forward to the 2012-2013 season with a more experienced team with veteran leadership. With only one player graduating the Raiders will have most of their squad returning next year.
