Field Hockey: Olsen, Raiders fall at Saint Joseph's (Me.), 3-0

STANDISH, MAINE – The Rivier University Field Hockey team allowed goals in the final three quarters as they dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this afternoon to Saint Joseph's College (Maine) by a 3-0 final. The loss moves the Raiders to an overall record of 5-7 and 2-2 in the conference while the defending GNAC champion Monks are now 10-2 overall, 4-0 against the conference.

Saint Joseph's received goals from Libby Pomerleau, Alexa Gutowski and Emma Rutledge to remain undefeated in conference play. Pomerleau netted her fifth goal of the season in the 21st minute of a feed from Alexandra Belaire. Gutowski scored her seventh goal of the campaign in the 40th minute after Rutledge set her up and Rutledge capped the scoring in the 55th minute with Aimee Adams assisting on the final goal.

Rivier sophomore goalkeeper Katie Olsen (Saugus, Mass.) made eight saves on eleven shots this afternoon. Saint Joseph's (Maine) keeper Alexandria Simpson stopped the only shot she faced in the contest.

Next up for the Raiders will be another GNAC road contest as they travel to Providence, Rhode Island next Saturday afternoon for a date with Johnson & Wales University. Game time is set for 1pm.
