Field Hockey: Late goal stuns Raiders against Regis College, 1-0

LOWELL, MASS. – The Rivier University Field Hockey team fell in heart-breaking fashion this evening as a late goal was the difference in the 1-0 loss to Regis College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action this evening. The game was moved to the campus of the University of Massachusetts-Lowell from Regis's campus in Weston due to the Triple E threat in the area. The loss drops the Raiders to 5-9 overall and 2-4 in the conference while the Pride improve to 5-10 overall, 2-4 in the GNAC.

The game was fast-paced on the blue carpet as both teams struggled to adjust to the field. It was not until the 51st minute when someone finally got on the board. A shot from Regis's Sheridan Blaha found the back of net for her 14th goal of the season and it was the eventual game winner.

Rivier had chances late in the contest, including a couple threats in the final minute, however the ball couldn't find the back of the net and the final horn sounded to give Regis the win.

Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Olsen (Saugus, Mass.) made five saves and six shots this evening while her counterpart, Hope Winkin stopped all four shots she faced.

Next up for the Raiders will be Lasell University on Saturday afternoon as they celebrate senior day at Joanne Merrill Field. Game time is set for 12pm.
