Field Hockey: Holloran promoted to interim Head Coach; staff changes announced
NASHUA, N.H. – Rivier University's Director of Athletics Joanne Merrill has announced that Mike Holloran will be taking over as the Head Coach on an interim basis for the Field Hockey program in 2019.
The announcement is made in an effort to extend the search for a full-time Head Coach for both the Field Hockey and Women's Lacrosse programs after former Head Coach Ellen Persson stepped away from her position for family reasons.
Coach Holloran brings a wealth of intercollegiate coaching experience to the Raider sidelines. For the previous five seasons, Holloran served as the top assistant coach for the Rivier Field Hockey program, helping the team to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament in 2014.
Returning to the bench for a second season with the program will be Mikayla Gauvain, who was a four-year letter winner on the Field Hockey team at Sothern New Hampshire University (2014-17).
Joining the staff for the 2019 campaign will be Anthony Perry. Perry, who has been the Head Baseball Coach for the Raiders over the past eight seasons, will assist Coach Holloran in the day-to-day operations of the program along with helping out at practices and games.
Holloran is looking forward to continuing the growth of the program after a successful 2018 season that saw freshman Maegan Sheehy lead the team with 9 goals and 21 total points.
Pre-Season kicks off on Thursday, August 22 as the team will prepare for their season opener nine days later at Gordon College (8/31 @ 1pm).
