Field Hockey: Langley's two goals guide Raiders past Dean, 7-0

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier University Field Hockey team climbed to .500 on the season as they defeated visiting Dean College, 7-0 in a non-conference contest under the lights at Joanne Merrill Field. The win evens out the Raiders' overall record at 4-4 while the Bulldogs fall to 1-5.

Rivier scored two goals across the first three quarters of action led by freshman Hunter Langley (Londonderry, N.H.), who netted her first two collegiate goals in the contest. Also registering career firsts were freshman Grace Pierce (Barre, Vt.) and Madison Streeter (Westminster, Vt.). Freshman Carissa Letendre (Whitinsville, Mass.) added to her team-leading goal total as she knocked home season goal #5 and junior Nicole Mansfield (Acton, Mass.) netted her third goal of the season. Sophomore Felicity Defosses (Franklin, N.H.) rounded out the Rivier scoring in the fourth quarter as she notched her first of the year.

Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Olsen (Saugus, Mass.) recorded her third shutout of the season as the Raider defense did not allow a shot during the 60 minutes. Dean freshman keeper Alexis Masse (Woonsocket, R.I.) stopped 15 of the 22 shots she faced on net.

The Raiders will return to action on Saturday afternoon as they host Albertus Magnus College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest beginning at 3:30pm. Dean will travel to Sage College on Sunday afternoon in their next scheduled contest.
