Raiders, Cadets battle to 1-1 tie

(Nashua, NH) With the impending rain storm closing in, the Women's Soccer team battled for 110 minutes but were unable to get the golden goal as they tied 1-1 with Norwich University.

The two squads battled to a scoreless tie as the first 45 minutes came to an end. Norwich freshman Sara Goes (Providence, RI) scored the game's first goal as she eluded Rivier junior goaltender Cassandra Brown (Somersworth, NH) at the 55 minute mark. Rivier junior Lauren Tampossi (Hollis, NH) netted the equalizer just three minutes later as she knocked home a loose rebound off a free kick from junior Mariah Payne (Concord, NH) to even the score at 1.

Brown finished the game with 13 saves while her counterpart, Norwich junior Allison Hull (South Royalton, VT) recorded 11 to earn the tie.

Rivier will have the next few days off before they travel to New Haven, CT for a 4pm kickoff with Albertus Magnus College in GNAC competition on September 12. Norwich will host Saint Joseph College (CT), which will also be played on the 12th.
