(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Women's Lacrosse team (3 – 10, 1 – 5 GNAC) beat visiting Simmons College (5 – 9, 2 – 4 GNAC) this evening 13 – 12 at Raider Field in a GNAC Women's Lacrosse match-up. Rivier won the one goal thriller and got their first GNAC win of the season. Rivier took command over the 1st half, building a 7 – 3 lead over the first 30 minutes. In the 2nd half Simmons tightened up the game, but a late two goal surge by the Raiders allowed the hosts to hang on down the stretch.
Rivier was led on the day by Sally Kennedy (FR, Billerica, MA), 4 goals, 2 assists, and 6 shots on goal; and Amanda Barton (FR, Pelham, NH), 3 goals, 3 shots on goal, and 2 ground balls. In goal, Courtney Laperriere (SO, Keene, NH) went the distance and had 21 saves on the day.
Simmons was paced by Elena Bragg, 4 goals, 1 assist, 7 shots on goal, and 3 ground balls; and Mallory Cottam, 3 goals, 7 shots on goal, and 2 ground balls. The visiting Sharks were backstopped by 7 saves from Chyenne Yeager.
Next up for the Raiders is another GNAC match-up when they travel to St. Joseph's College, CT at 1:00 pm this Saturday, March 22nd. Simmons returns to action on March 22nd as well when they host Mount Ida College in GNAC action.
