Nichols Beats Rivier 18 - 7

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Women's Lacrosse team (1 – 6, 0 – 1 GNAC) fell to visiting Nichols College (3 – 6, 1 – 1, CCC) this evening 18 – 7 at Raider Field.  The teams battled for the opening 20 minutes of the 1^st half, with the visiting Bison holding a 9 – 5 lead with 10:37 to play.  The visitors took control of the game with a three goal run to close out the 1^st half leading 12 – 6, and adding to their lead with a four goal salvo in the first 11 minutes of the 2^nd half to have the upper hand with a 16 – 6 advantage.  The Raiders scrapped to keep pace in the 1^st half, but after pulling to within four at 9 – 5, the Bison pulled away. 

Rivier was led on the day by Jane Farrell (SR, Wilmington, MA) 1 goal, 1 assist, and 3 shots on goal; and Sally Kennedy (FR, Billerica, MA), 1 goal, 1 assist, 5 shots on goal, and 4 ground balls.  In goal, Courtney Laperriere(SO, Keene, NH) went the distance and had 9 saves on the night. 

Nichols was paced by Brooke Marion (SR, South Hadley, MA), 5 goals, 2 assists, 9 shots on goal, and 3 ground balls; and Kristen Sullivan (SO, Arlington, MA), 4 goals, 3 assists, 7 shots on goal, and 2 ground balls.  The visiting Bison were backstopped by 9 saves from starter Emily Eagan (FR, Hingham, MA).

Next up for the Raiders is a GNAC Conference home game versus Mount Ida College at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 1^st.   Nichols returns to action on April 1^st as well, when they host Curry College.
