Softball Swept by Plymouth St. in Non-Conference Doubleheader

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier softball team was swept by Granite State foe, Plymouth St., in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday night at Raider Diamond, losing game one 8-7 before dropping game two 10-3.

The Raiders fell to 8-10 overall while the Panthers improved to 8-10.

Rivier will return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) North Division action in a Saturday doubleheader at home beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Plymouth St. 8, Rivier 7

After being no-hit through four innings, Rivier rallied with a seven-run bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 7-7 with Avry Nelson, Kylee Caetano, Olivia Couto, and Kayla Miles each knocking in runs.

In the top of the seventh, an error from the Raiders allowed the Panthers to take the lead, which would hold as Abbey Nezuch put together a 1-2-3 bottom half to secure the win.

Christina Panagiotopoulos finished 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring one run.

Plymouth St. 10, Rivier 3

The Panthers put together a seven spot in the top of the first inning to jump out to an early lead.

In the top of the third, an RBI single off the bat of Avery Couch made it an eight-run contest. Olivia Couto and Kayla Miles each had RBI singles in the bottom half to cut the Raiders' deficit to five.

Plymouth St.'s Kenzie Bessette knocked a two-RBI double to left center to increase the lead to seven runs yet again.

The game was stopped short in the top of the seventh due to heavy rain with the score at 10-3.
