Silva Tabbed GNAC Rookie of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Rivier softball first-year Hayleigh Silva was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week following her stellar weeklong performance at The Spring Games in Florida, the conference office announced Monday.
Silva saw time in 10 games for the Raiders in The Sunshine State, coming up big in the field, in the circle, and at the plate. At the dish, she had 13 hits, posting a .382 batting average while notching an RBI and scoring five times to help the Raiders to a 5-5 week. In the field, she recorded a .964 fielding percentage over the ten games, recording 54 putouts on 56 chances.
Silva helped the Raiders to a 5-5 start, the best mark to start a season since 2017.
Silva and the Raiders will return to action on Saturday, March 16 in a non-conference doubleheader at Mass. Maritime. First pitch in game one from Alison Rollins Field is set for 1:00 p.m.
