Markuson selected to represent Team USA in Brazil

(Nashua, NH) It has been announced earlier today that Rivier University's Chris Markuson has been selected to represent the United States on the USA Division III Men's Volleyball All Star team.

The Cupertino, California native just finished his sophomore season in which he has led the Raiders to back-to-back trips to the NCAA Division III National Tournament. He was the 2012 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year along with being named the GNAC All-Conference First Team. He was also named All-Conference First team this past season (2013).

In his short two year career at Rivier, Markuson has amassed 758 kills, 265 digs, 129 total blocks and 50 service aces in just 217 sets played.

The USA D-3 Volleyball All Star Team will begin their Brazil Tour 2013 in Orlando, Florida on June 10th. The tour runs from June 10-19. After the team orientation and practice in Orlando, the team will depart for Sao Paulo, Brazil on Tuesday, June 11th. The team will play double-header matches on June 12th, 13th and 14th in the state of Sao Paulo vs. selected teams from the region. On June 15th the team will travel to Rio de Janeiro for matches on June 16th and 17th. The team will then depart Brazil on the evening of June 18th and return to Orlando on the afternoon of the 19th.

While in Brazil, Markuson and the team will experience educational, cultural and social aspects of Brazilian life through school and sports club visits. While in Rio, the team will be staying on the world famous Copacabana Beach and be touring the Christ Statue and Sugar Loaf – two of the most recognizable landmarks in the world.
