#10 Raiders roll past Emmanuel College

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier University Men's Volleyball team remains unbeaten in Great Northeast Athletic competition as they easily handled the visiting Emmanuel College Saints, 3-1 this evening inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. Rivier has now won 20 consecutive GNAC matches dating back to March 1, 2011 when they dropped a five set match at Emmanuel.

The Raiders, who are ranked #10 in the latest AVCA Top 15 poll, were led by senior Steve Visentin (Cheshire, CT) who had 39 assists and 6 digs. Sophomore Chris Markuson (Cupertino, CA) recorded 19 kills to lead both teams while junior Matt Bynon (Burnt Hills, NY) had 10 digs.

Visentin was also named both the GNAC Player of the Week and the ECAC Division III National Player of the Week earlier this afternoon.

Four different Saints recorded 8 kills to lead the squad including Ryan Kessler, who recorded a .615 hitting percentage. Nick Updike registered 34 assists and Ernie Gurule had 10 digs in the loss.

Both programs will be back in action this weekend as they will compete in the 2013 Baruch College Invitational in New York City.
