(Cambridge, MA) The Rivier University Men's Volleyball team dropped a tough four game set at Harvard University this evening in Cambridge, Mass. The NCAA Division I Crimson ousted the Raiders 25-15, 18-25, 25-18 and 25-16 in front of about 50 people inside Harvard's Malkin Athletic Center. It was the home opener for Harvard who are now 5-2 overall and 1-1 in EIVA play. The Raiders drop to 2-3 on the young 2013 season.
Junior Terrance Matatall (Danville, NH) led the charge for the Raiders as he had a ,286 hitting percentage with 11 kills and 5 errors (21 total attempts). Classmate Aaron Almario (Alhambra, CA) contributed 8 kills while sophomore Chris Markuson (Cupertino, CA) had 4 kills. Senior Steve Visentin (Cheshire, CT) added another 26 assists to his career total and both juniors Daniel Elitharp (Eastport, NY) and Matt Bynon (Burnt Hills, NY) recorded 5 digs to pace the defense.
Rivier will return to the court on February 13th as the begin Great Northeast Athletic Conference play with a 7pm road contest at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI.
