Bynon, Matatall combine for GNAC Weekly honors

(Boston, MA) This week the Great Northeast Athletic Conference selected Rivier University juniors Terence Matatall (Danville, NH) and Matt Bynon (Burnt Hills, NY) for Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.

Bynon, the 5'9 libero, has earned his fourth Defensive Player of the Week Award this season. He led the Raiders with 37 digs in just 4 matches this weekend during the Endicott March Mania Tournament. The defensive specialist had 2.85 digs/set including a match high 16 against Kean University.

Once again the 6'7 power middle hitter Terence Matatall has been named Offensive Player of the Week, his fourth weekly award of the season. His remarkable .517 hitting percentage allowed him to match Bynon with 2.85 kills/set. His game didn't stop on the defensive end as he averaged .92 blocks/set with 12 blocks in all. His strongest match of the weekend came against #13 MIT in which he amassed 12 kills on a .526 hitting percentage and added 2 blocks.

After the weekend matches the Raiders are first in the GNAC with an 11-9 overall record (4-0 in GNAC) and they return to the court on March 16th when they will face Albertus Magnus and Emerson at home.
