Men's Soccer falls in double overtime to Lasell, 1-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Soccer team fell in the most heartbreaking of fashions this afternoon to Lasell College at Raider Field in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. After a pair of red cards limited the Raiders to just 9 men on the field, Lasell's Justin Blood headed in a cross from Tyler Davis to give the Lasers a 1-0 double overtime win with just 3:04 left on the clock. The loss sends the Raiders to 1-9-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the GNAC while Lasell improves to 2-8-0, 2-3-0 GNAC.

Both teams had plenty of chances throughout the contest but the goalkeepers stood tall. Rivier sophomore Gary Archambault made a couple of point blank saves in each of the overtime frames before Paulino was able to sneak one past him. Archambault finished with 12 saves on the afternoon and Lasell's Miguel Colmenares earned the shutout win with four saves.

Lasell outshot the Raiders, 24-8 as the evenly matched game went a total of 106:56 minutes.

Rivier will continue to look for their first GNAC win of the season when they return to the pitch on Monday at Norwich University. Lasell will also be on the road as they head to Albertus Magnus for a GNAC contest on Monday afternoon.
