Cadets blank Raiders in Men's Lacrosse

Nashua, NH – Norwich's Ian Mendoza netted 4 goals and nine other Cadets found the back of the net as they defeated Rivier College, 19-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action this afternoon at Raider Field.

Norwich (6-4 overall, 4-1 GNAC) got on the board quickly as Marco Wiederanders notched his first of two goals in the period just 1:27 into the game. The Cadets would add five more goals to take a commanding 6-0 lead after one.

The Raiders (4-5 overall, 1-4 GNAC) would battle back in the second as they limited the potent Norwich offense to just two goals – one by Patrick Sikora and the other by Mendoza.

Norwich would put the game away for good with an 8 goal third period, highlighted by Ian Thomas' hat trick.

Raider goaltender junior Chris Benoit (Blackstone, MA) took the loss in net as he allowed 19 goals on 29 shots. Mark Paradiso made just five saves as he recorded the shutout for Norwich.

Rivier will return to action on Tuesday night (4/10) when as they host Saint Joseph's College in a GNAC match-up. Norwich will take their five game winning streak into Wednesday's GNAC match up at home against Becker College.
