3 Rivier Student-Athletes have been honored this week

(Nashua, NH) It has been announced this evening by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference that three different Rivier College Student-Athletes have received weekly honors.

Off to the best start in program history, the Men's Lacrosse team had two Student-Athletes honored. Freshman Mike Arricale (Billerica, MA) was chosen as the GNAC Player of the Week. He recorded five goals and 3 assists in the team's season opening 15-3 win over Wheelock College. Arricale followed with an assist in a 9-1 victory over Maine-Farmington. He registered 9 total points on the week.

Also helping the Men's Lacrosse team to a perfect 2-0 start was junior goaltender Chris Benoit (Blackstone, MA). He made 11 saves in the win against Wheelock and added another 16 saves versus Maine-Farmington. Benoit recorded an .871 save percentage and for his efforts he was named GNAC Goalie of the Week.

Not to be outdone, the Men's Volleyball program also had a perfect weekend as they took three games from Albertus Magnus, New Jersey City and Vassar. Leading the charge was GNAC Rookie of the Week, freshman Chris Markuson (Cupertino, CA). He recorded 35 kills over the three victories, including 12 in the win over #11 Vassar. This is the first time that Markuson has been honored.
