Women's Volleyball: Raiders stumble on the road; fall to Emerson 3-0

BOSTON, MASS. – The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team dropped a non-conference contest this evening on the road at Emerson College in straight sets. The loss moves the Raiders to 17-7 overall on the season and the Lions improve to 16-6.

Rivier lost the match by set scores of 24-26, 22-25 and 22-25.

Senior Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) led the way offensively for the Raiders as she had 12 kills and eight digs. Classmate Jess Whyte (Plymouth, Mass.) added eight kills and sophomore Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, Conn.) contributed with seven kills and matched Dunster for the team-high of eight digs. Sophomore Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) handed out 32 assists on the evening while adding four kills and seven digs to go along with her four total blocks. Junior Julia Zargaj (Groveland, Mass.) recorded a block solo and five kills in the setback for Rivier.

Emerson's Grace Tepper set the tone as she held the game-high of 20 kills and Rebecca Polsky provided additional help along the offensive net with eight kills. Caroline Bond dished out 38 helpers on the night and 10 digs while Anna Phillips registered the game-high of 17 digs.

The Raiders will return to action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to West Hartford, Connecticut for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tri-Match with Suffolk University and the University of Saint Joseph. Rivier will battle Suffolk at 1pm followed by their contest with USJ scheduled for 3pm.
