Women's Volleyball: Raiders earn first win of the season; sweep Washington College 3-0

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO – The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team finished off their season opening trip to Puerto Rico with a three set win over Washington College this afternoon. The Raiders are now 1-1 on the young season while the Shorewoman fall to 1-2.

Rivier was victorious by set scores of 25-9, 25-22 and 25-21.

Senior Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) powered the Raider offense as she finished with a team-high 10 kills and classmate Jess Whyte (Plymouth, Mass.) finished with eight winners and a .417 hitting percentage. Sophomore Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) handed out 20 assists and collected three service aces in the win.

Washington College was paced by juniors Isabella Sansanelli (East Northport, N.Y.) and Kylie Peets (Salmon, Idaho), who each had the team-high of seven kills.

Rivier will return to the continental 48 for their next scheduled contest which will be on Friday evening in the annual Granite State Challenge. The Raiders will square off against the Sage Colleges in the opening match at Plymouth State University before battling Keene State in the nightcap.
