Women's Volleyball: Antczak, Raiders sweep Anna Maria

PAXTON, MASS. – The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team extended their winning streak to five games this evening as they swept Anna Maria College, 3-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest. The win improves the Raiders overall record to 11-5 with a perfect 2-0 mark against conference foes while the AMCATS fall to 2-11 overall, 0-3 against the GNAC.

Rivier earned the win by set scores of 25-9, 25-8, 25-14.

Sophomore Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, Conn.) led the team offensively as she recorded a .500 hitting percentage while hammering down 11 kills. Junior Allison Zagami (Milford, Mass.) finished with six kills and a .353 hitting percentage while freshman Emily Jennings (Killingworth, Conn.) added two kills and a .667 hitting percentage. Sophomore Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) dished out 23 assists on the evening along with recording two total blocks and three kills. Racevicius and seniors Taryn Higareda (Rosemead, Calif.) & Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) each led the team along the back line as they totaled six digs each. Freshman Nicole Lezon (Lincoln, R.I.) added a kill and a block solo in the win for Rivier.

The AMCATS were paced by both sophomore Taylor Hoffstedt (Lanesborough, Mass.) and freshman Bella Kozciak (Westfield, Mass.), who each had two kills, with sophomore Julia Ramos (Orange, Mass.) handing out five assists. Freshman Serena Dennis (Holyoke, Mass.) scooped up a game-high 12 digs in the loss for Anna Maria.

Rivier will return to action and the Muldoon Gymnasium for their next two contests as they host Framingham State University and the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference tri-match. The first game against Framingham State will begin at 11am. Anna Maria, meanwhile, will also be back on the court this Saturday as they travel to Standish, Maine for a GNAC tri-match with Saint Joseph's College and Norwich University.
