Women's Volleyball places five to GNAC All-Conference Team

(Winthrop, Mass.) After an impressive season, the Rivier University Women's Volleyball team was rewarded with five selections to the 2016 Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Conference Team as announced earlier this morning by the conference. This is the fourth consecutive year that Head Coach Craig Kolek has placed five or more student-athletes onto the All-Conference Teams. The Raiders finished the 2016 season with a 31-4 overall record and was the conference runner-up after falling to undefeated Johnson and Wales, 3-1 in the championship game. The season was also remarkable as the program saw three student-athletes join the 1,000 kill club including one who became the first member in school history to reach 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.

Senior Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) was selected back to the All-Conference First team as she was a first team selection in 2015 and a second team member in 2014. Silverman had an outstanding season as she recorded a career high 373 kills and a career best .418 hitting percentage. The middle hitter also totaled 124 blocks (46 solo) in the 105 sets she played in. Silverman recorded her 1,000th career kill this season back on October 18 against Norwich and finishes her illustrious career with 1,121 kills. She was also selected as the GNAC Player of the Week for Week Two of the season back on September 12th.

Senior Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.) was tabbed as an All-GNAC honoree for the third time in her career as she garnered Second Team honors in 2015 and a First Team selection in 2014. Mott was second on the team with 367 kills and a .390 hitting percentage while recording her 1,000th career kill on October 28th. The veteran outside hitter set career highs with 119 digs and 58 total blocks over the course of her 105 set played season.

A remarkable two-way student-athlete, senior Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) earned her fourth All-Conference selection as she was placed on the All-GNAC Second Team. McCormack previously was a first-team selection in 2013 & 2014 before being a second team member last season (2015). This year she became just the second student-athlete in conference history to record both 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career. She finished the season with 254 kills and 310 digs – her fourth straight 200 kill-300 dig season. McCormack registered dig number 1,000 on September 9th and her 1,000th kill on October 15th.

Junior Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) makes her third consecutive appearance to the All-Conference team as she was named a Second Team All-Conference libero. She was named GNAC Libero of the Week back on September 6th and finished the season with 457. Trevino also recorded her 1,000 career dig earlier this year on September 9th and totaled a 4.44 digs per set with over 100 sets played. She was a Third Team selection last season (2015) and was named the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team honoree back in 2014.

Sophomore Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) was named to her first All-Conference team after a break out season in 2016. She was selected as the All-Conference Third Team setter as she guided the Rivier offense to a .248 hitting percentage with 1,073 assists. Macken also registered 232 digs and 45 total blocks for the Raiders in her first season as the primary setter. She was named the NYU Invitational Most Outstanding Player and GNAC Player of the Week on September 6th.
