Women's Volleyball handles Suffolk in three sets

(Boston, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team took a three set win over Suffolk University this evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest. The Raiders were victorious by scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 25-18. The win improves Rivier to 19-2 overall and a 3-1 conference mark. Suffolk, meanwhile, falls to an even 9-9 overall and 2-4 in the GNAC.

Senior Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) was lights out as she totaled five blocks to go along with her team high, 12 kills and .526 hitting percentage. Classmate Chelsey Hussey (Lebanon, Conn.) had a solid evening with nine kills and senior Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.) chipped in with eight kills of her own. Sophomore Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) dished out 33 assists – her 12th game this season reaching 30+ assists – and junior Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) collected 12 digs along the back line for the Raiders. Senior Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) continues her climb in the Raider record books with 6 kills and 9 digs.

Suffolk was paced by Emma Feeney, who had four kills and twelve digs. Bridget Allison led the team with five kills of her own and Liz Kerek handed out nine assists.

Up next for the Raiders, who are winners of three straight, will be a tough home contest with Babson College. The Beavers will be entering the Muldoon Gymnasium with a 12-7 overall record and a 6-2 mark in NEWMAC play. Overall the Raiders are 2-2 against their next opponent with a 1-1 record at the 'Doon. Game time is set for 7pm.
