WVB: Silverman tabbed as GNAC Player of the Week

(Winthrop, Mass.) For the second consecutive week, a Rivier University Student-Athlete tops the list for the weekly Great Northeast Athletic Conference honors in Women's Volleyball. Senior Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) was selected by the conference as the Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week after helping the team to four wins in the Granite State Invitational.

Silverman had an impressive week for the Raiders as they took home state bragging rights with wins over Colby-Sawyer College (3-0), Keene State College (3-0), Daniel Webster College (3-0) and Plymouth State University (3-2). She contributed on both sides of the net, averaging 3.29 kills per set and 1.71 blocks per set while hitting an impressive .494. Her key performance was a 16-kill, eight block effort in the five set win over Plymouth State.

Silverman follows sophomore setter Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) who earned GNAC Offensive Player of the Week last Monday afternoon.

Silverman and the Raiders will look to remain unbeaten (8-0) as they get set for a three game week. They will travel to New London, N.H. on Thursday for another date with Colby-Sawyer before hosting Regis College and Colby College in a Saturday Tri-Match at the Muldoon.
