Women's Soccer: Raiders claim 2nd straight GNAC win; top Anna Maria 3-0

(Paxton, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team earned their second Great Northeast Athletic Conference win in as many tries this evening as they shutout Anna Maria College, 3-0. The win sends the Raiders overall record to 3-6 with a 2-5 mark against the conference while the AMCATS remain winless at 0-14 overall, 0-9 GNAC.

Rivier scored early in the opening half as junior Kassiana Gagnon (Windham, N.H.) knocked home a pass from sophomore Ashley Glynn (Salem, N.H.) for her first career goal in the 18th minute. The Raiders then received an additional tally as junior Keara Sheehan (Chelmsford, Mass.) recorder her 2nd goal of the year in the 33rd minute.

Junior Brittany Fletcher (Tewksbury, Mass.) then closed out the scoring as she netted her 3rd goal with an unassisted goal in the 88th minute.

Rivier junior goalkeeper Kasey Smith (Hopkinton, N.H.) recorded her second clean sheet of the season with a four-save performance while AMCAT netminder Rachel Matloff made an impressive 13 saves.

The Raiders also held the advantage in shots (21-8) and corners (6-4) in the win.

Next up for Rivier will be a conference road trip to West Hartford, Connecticut as they'll battle the University of Saint Joseph on Saturday afternoon. Anna Maria will remain home as they host Regis College on Saturday as well.
