Women's Soccer: Fletcher nets game-winner in 2OT

(Franklin, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer program kicked off the 2018 season with a thrilling 2-1 double overtime win over Dean College in non-conference action this afternoon at Lippert Field.

The Raiders (1-0) received the golden goal from junior captain Brittany Fletcher (Tewksbury, Mass.) as her shot in the 103rd minute beat Bulldog keeper Jennifer Jacovino. It was the first goal of the season for Fletcher.

Junior Keara Sheehan (Chelmsford, Mass.) opened the scoring of the contest in the 14th minute as she collected a pass through ball from freshman Avery Martin (Milford, N.H.) and delivered a shot past Dean goalie Macy Parisee.

The Bulldogs tallied the equalizer in the closing seconds of the first half. Mackenzie Parisee lifted a cross to the back post where Allison Buckley was able to head the ball into the back of the net.

Senior Kasey Smith (Hopkinton, N.H.) made eight saves for the Raiders over the 103 minutes of action. Macy Parisee was outstanding as she made 19 saves.

Next up for the Raiders will be on Monday, September 10 as they host Norwich University at Raider Field. Game time is set for 7pm.
