Women's Soccer falls to Emmanuel, 2-1

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team fell on the wrong side of a 2-1 final this evening under the light at Raider Field to Emmanuel College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference competition.

With the setback, Rivier falls to 2-8-1, 1-5-0 in the GNAC while Emmanuel improves to 6-6-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the GNAC.

Rivier freshman Amanda Wickens (Tyngsboro, MA) got the scoring started as she was able to take a pass from senior Lauren Tamposi (Hollis, NH) and lift it past the Emmanuel goaltender.

The Saints would find the equalizer just over seven minutes later when Katelyn Fink netted her second goal of the season. She was able to break free from the Raider defenders and place it in the back of the net.

Emmanuel would take the lead for good just a minute and eighteen seconds into the second half as Lindsey Garvey's shot went to the left of the goaltender and was able to sneak inside the far post.

Senior Cassandra Brown (Somersworth, NH) made nine saves on the evening while to duo of Abaigeal Thiyierge and Jenna Marcello recorded two saves each for the Saints.

Rivier will return to the field on Saturday afternoon as they host Anna Maria College in a 4:30pm GNAC matchup. Emmanuel will also be in GNAC action on Saturday afternoon as they welcome Saint Joseph's College of Maine for a 3pm kickoff.
