Women's Soccer falls in GNAC opener, 6-1

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team dropped their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest of the season, 6-1 this afternoon to the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays at Raider Field.

USJ was able to net all six goals within the final 45 minutes of action as six different Blue Jays found the back of the net. Tiana Saraceno earned three points as she was able to score her third goal of the season and also added an assist.

Rivier sophomore Holly Slocum (Holden, MA) netted her first goal of the season as her free kick from 30 yards out was able to beat USJ goaltender Melissa Dodge inside the 61 minute mark.

Dodge finished the afternoon making three saves on four shots faced while Rivier's senior netminder Cassandra Brown (Somersworth, NH) was successful on 11 of 17 shots.

The Raiders were outshot on the day by a 40-5 margin.

Next up for Rivier will be crosstown foe Daniel Webster College. Game time is set for 7pm at Raider Field on Wednesday night.
