Rivier Softball earns #5 seed in ECAC Tournament

(Nashua, NH) After an impressive 2012 season in which the Rivier College Softball team went 25-12 and an appearance in the GNAC Tournament, the Raiders were selected to participate in the ECAC New England Tournament and given the fifth seed.

This will be the third appearance, and second consecutive, for Rivier in the ECAC's. They were selected to the post-season tournament after the 2007 and 2011 seasons. Back in 2007, the Raiders were the 7th seed and lost the opening round game at #2 Brandeis. Last season they fell to University of New England as the #4 seed by a 5-0 final.

The seedings are as follows:

1. Brandeis University (23-15)

2. Salve Regina University (24-16)

3. Endicott College (21-15)

4. Plymouth State University (21-20)

5. RIVIER COLLEGE (25-12)

6. Worcester State University (21-18)

7. Simmons College (24-16)

8. Daniel Webster College (21-19)

Rivier will travel up to Plymouth State on Wednesday, May 9th for a 4pm game. The ECAC Tournament is a single elimination for the first round only. The final four will play in a double elimination format for the championship which will be played on May 13th.
