Raiders, Falcons split Softball Doubleheader

(Nashua, NH) Rivier College split their home bill against the visiting Albertus Magnus in GNAC action taking the first game in 6 innings 12-4, and then dropping the second game 12-5 going a full 7 innings.

The first game for the Raiders (14-4 overall, 7-3 GNAC) was pitched by sophomore Lauren Beatty (Sherman, CT) who tossed a complete game had 5 strike outs, while only surrendering 7 hits on the afternoon.

For the visiting Falcons (7-11 overall, 3-7 GNAC) their bright spot came from their freshman right fielder Brittney Urciuoli (Newington, CT) who went 2 for 4 with a RBI and a triple.

The second game for the Raiders did not as end as well as their lone bright spot came from catcher Marissa Mercier (North Smithfield, RI) who went 3 for 3 with a run scored and a RBI.

The Falcons offensive attack was led by their third basemen junior Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, CT) who was all over the base paths and went 2 for 4 with 4 runs scored.  Catcher Elaina Maio (West Haven, CT) also had a good day at the plate going 3 for 4 with a double and a RBI.

The Raiders next game will be on the road Sunday (4/1) as they travel to face Pine Manor in GNAC action.
