Riv Softball's season comes to an end

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier College Raiders (25-12, 17-10 GNAC) ended their season today after losing in the first round of the GNAC quarterfinals to the Saint Joseph College Blue Jays (18-21, 13-14 GNAC) by a score of 9-2.

Sophomore Hillary Tarr (North Easton, MA) tossed 6 innings for the Raiders on the mound while junior Marissa Mercier (North Springfield, RI) led the raiders on the field and with the bat going 2 for 4 with an RBI. Senior Karen Waterman (Rutland, VT) finished her Raider career going 2 for 3 to raise her batting average on the season to .395.

The Blue Jays were led on the mound by their captain Kristina Torres (Groton, CT) who tossed a complete game only letting up 2 runs while striking out 6 and walking none. Freshman catcher Ashley Stokes (Middletown, CT) was one of three hitters to hit a home run and finished 2 for 3 with 4 RBI on the evening.

Following their win against the Raiders the Blue Jays will now continue on their road through the playoffs traveling to Gordon College to take on #4 Johnson and Wales University on Friday (4/27) at 2 pm.
