Men's Volleyball falls to Lasell in straight sets

(Newton, Mass.) In a repeat meeting between the 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) finalists, the Rivier University Men's Volleyball team once again fell victim to the Lasell College Lasers, 3-0 on Thursday evening. The Raiders drop to 1-2 in conference play and 11-8 overall while Lasell remains unbeaten in the GNAC at 7-0 and are now 11-9 overall.

Junior Ian Wolski (Westfield, Mass.) paved the way for the Raiders with 13 kills and five digs for 13.5 points, while sophomore Grant Andler (Chicago, Ill.) contributed with 10 kills for 11.5 points. Sophomore Garrett Bucklin (Jamestown, R.I.) held down the defense for the visitors with a game-high eight digs.

In a triumphant balanced effort for the hosts, three Lasers reached double figures in kills with junior Patrick MacDonald (Floral Park, N.Y.) leading the charge with 15 kills, six digs, and two service aces. Junior Tristan Davis (Rochester, N.Y.) followed on a .571 hitting percentage with 10 kills on 14 attempts, while senior Ryan Jackson (Canton, Ohio) hit into 14 kills with six digs. Junior William Gold (Ridgefield, Conn.) hit the floor for a team-best seven digs, with six additional kills and a service ace.

The Raiders will welcome Wentworth and Mount Ida in a GNAC tri-match on Saturday, March 5th beginning at 11:00 am while the Lasers host MIT on Tuesday, March 8th.
