
Heckler named GNAC/Corvais MVB Offensive Player of the Week
(Winthrop, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced earlier this afternoon that Rivier University sophomore Matt Heckler (Simi Valley, Calif.) has been selected as the GNAC/Corvais Offensive Player of the Week for Men's Volleyball. Heckler averaged 2.67 kills per set on a .609 hitting percentage in a 1-1 week for the Raiders. He made just two errors on 23 attempts and also posted a mark of 1.50 blocks per set.
In the season opener for the Raiders, Heckler led the attack against #3 New Paltz State with 11 kills and a .588 hitting percentage. The 6-4 middle hitter also registered four total blocks in the four set loss. Heckler then added five kills and a .667 hitting percentage in just two sets played in the three win over cross-town foe, Daniel Webster to close out the afternoon.
The Men's Volleyball team will be on the road for their next contest this weekend as they compete in the Kean University Invitational down in New Jersey.
