NASHUA, N.H. – Despite a late goal off the foot of Jason Harlow in the final 15 minutes, the Rivier men's soccer team was dropped by Fisher, 2-1, in a non-conference game on Thursday night at Merrill Field. The Falcons jumped to 8-2-2 with the win, while the Raiders fell to 2-6-4 overall.
Fisher outshot Rivier by a 12-3 margin in the opening 45 minutes as sophomore goalkeeper Sean Seeley made two saves to keep the game scoreless at halftime.
Just 10:53 into the second half, Fisher's Mario Iglesias scored on a feed from Tim Schwarz to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Under eight minutes later, the Falcons would double their lead on an own goal by the Raiders. Rivier would cut the deficit in half when Harlow drilled a shot in the top right corner on an unassisted strike, but that would be all the offense the home side could muster as Fisher held on for their eighth victory of the season.
Harlow led all players with two shots on goal in the contest.
Rivier will return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday, Oct. 7 in a noontime game against Anna Maria at Caparso Field.
